Set of standard size simple wooden Shogi tiles half with red and half with black traditional Japanese markings; traditional standard size `greaseproof` paper board, 28.5x23.5cm, in a sturdy plastic storage box, 9x9x4.5cm. Genuine Japanese product.

This set of Shogi Koma are made of wood and use traditional Japanese markings. Half in red and half in black, although a colour difference between the opposing sides is not fundamental to the game as in the case of Western Chess.

These markings, known as karagana, are those found in the normal 'how to play' books.

This expansion allows the players to build a larger board, as well as seperate the board into many islands, with the ships creating trading lines between them. 11 different scenarios give the players many new starting positions. The introduction of a Pirate has players watching both the land and sea for dreaded enemies!

Contents: 14 framing edge pieces (creates a square playing surface), 24 hexagonal playing board tiles, 60 wooden ship pieces (colours - red, white, blue & orange), 1 wooden ship (Pirate-black), 12 harbour token counter sheet, and 18 die cut counters (8 victory flags and 10 numbered circles).
