The Thai version
of chess is called Makruk. The opening setup is similar to international
chess, except that the pawns start on the third rank. The queen
moves just one square diagonally (like the queen in medieval chess),
and the bishop moves one square in any diagonal direction or straight
ahead.
Thai Chess
is normally played on a standard 8 x 8 Chess board without the
alternating colours, i.e. all the squares are white. We currently
have one set available which containes plastic pieces and a paper
board which can easily be mounted onto a sheet of MDF or plywood
using a suitable adhesive such as spray mount.
Don't forget
that apart from this traditional game we also sell many others
too including Backgammon, Go, Mahjong, Mancala, Carrom, Xiangqi
and loads more! Delivery is normally within 7-10 working days
but we do our best to get all orders shipped quickly. Please note
that non UK orders will take slightly longer due to the postal
system, with all shipments being sent by International Recorded
Delivery assuring you of a safe and insured delivery.
